Veteran Addiction Treatment & Mental Health Resources in Alabama

Alabama Veteran Treatment & Recovery Resources

Veterans of the United States experience substance abuse disorder, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), depression, homelessness, and suicide at higher rates than non-veterans. It’s a sobering fact and the statistics are saddening:

  • Nearly one in five veterans will experience a substance abuse disorder.
  • Around 30% of Vietnam veterans, 12% of Gulf War veterans, and 20% of Iraq or Afghanistan veterans have been diagnosed with PTSD.
  • Rates of major depression among veterans are up to five times higher than average.
  • Between 13-20% of veterans are homeless at any given time.
  • More than fifteen veterans commit suicide in America every single day.

The US is currently home to over 18 million veterans and to an additional 2.1 million active-duty or reserve-duty servicepeople. Alabama is home to 377,310 of these brave people at the time of this writing. We care deeply about those who defend or have defended our nation, and we want to share some recovery and treatment resources with service members who reside in Alabama.
